ITCÂ Level 2
If you’re a certified Level I/Category I thermographer who is ready to take a deeper dive into the world of infrared imaging and inspections, Level II/Category II certification will give you the practical inspection knowledge needed to level up your thermography game.
Based on established ISO 18436-7 and ASNT CP-105 guidelines, the Level II/Category II certification course curriculum will provide a comprehensive examination of subjects critical to success as a Level II/Category II thermographer.
Level II / Category II Topics
- Review important camera specifications and how they can influence image interpretation and measurement.
- Discuss advanced camera features and options for data collection and image processing.
- Expand on infrared science and measurement concepts with emphasis on radiation exchange, energy distribution, and other topics that will enhance your analytical skills.
- Discuss false anomalies and how these can provide misleading results.
- Broaden your understanding of heat transfer theory to provide the knowledge needed to interpret and analyze thermal anomalies under a variety of applications and conditions.
- Perform practical, hands-on exercises that will enhance your ability to measure temperatures, analyze results, and diagnose critical issues.
- Discuss advice for professionally and safely performing electrical, mechanical, and building inspections.
- Review a variety of real-world application imagery and anecdotes from the field.
- Discuss camera selection advice based on application.
- Review qualitative and quantitative analysis, discuss fault criteria and classification, and understand how diagnostics and prognostics apply to condition monitoring.
- Provide an overview of reporting software and advice for report design, layout, and content per ISO 18434-1.
Who Should Attend?
Level II certification is for experienced, professional thermographers and troubleshooters. A Level II thermographer typically deploys more than one diagnostic technology to determine the root cause of a problem and recommend repairs. Because of their more advanced IR training, Level II thermographers are qualified to provide technical direction to Level I certified personnel.
Accreditation
The learning objectives, testing, and certification policies are based on ASNT CP-105, ANST SNT-TC-1A, and ISO 18436-7 guidelines.
- 32 hours (24 Infrared Training Center certification renewal credits).
- NETA has approved this course for 32 continuing technical development credits (CTDs).
Please contact the issuing institution regarding 3rd-party continuing education credits. The Infrared Training Center does not award credits on behave of other institutions.
Trainings
An overview of image analysis and reporting is provided for the latest FLIR software. FLIR Ignite will be used during the course to perform image analysis. A free Starter account is included with your Infrared Training Center account. You can login from this link: https://ignite.flir.com

What do you need?
- Students will be required to complete various labs & exercises throughout the duration of the course, please bring your thermal camera to class.Â
- If you do not have access to a camera, you can rent one through Inframatrix Sdn Bhd.
- If you are attending the course with a colleague or friend you may share a camera, however we recommend no more than three students per camera.
- The laptop/tablet will need to be connected to the internet (via Wifi) throughout the course of the training.
- Course materials will only be available digitally.
- Examinations will be administered electronically.
