Optical Gas Imaging 1
If you’re a certified Level I/Category I thermographer who is ready to take a deeper dive into the world of infrared imaging and inspections, Level II/Category II certification will give you the practical inspection knowledge needed to level up your thermography game.
Based on established ISO 18436-7 and ASNT CP-105 guidelines, the Level II/Category II certification course curriculum will provide a comprehensive examination of subjects critical to success as a Level II/Category II thermographer.

OGIÂ 1 Topics
- Proper setup and operation of FLIR G-Series, GF-Series, and other OGI camera models.
- The regulatory framework associated with optical gas imaging (OOOOa and Appendix K).
- Best practices for OGI inspections and critical aspects of Appendix K that impact camera operators.
- Fundamental thermal science and heat transfer concepts.
- The science behind leak detection and how OGI cameras can image gas clouds.
- How to use HSM, thermal tuning, and other camera features to optimize leak detection.
- How to ensure an adequate temperature difference (Delta T) for gas detection.
- Basic safety practices for performing an OGI inspection.
Instructors
Infrared courses are developed and taught by the Infrared Training Center's Level III, ASNT Level III, or EPRI Level III Instructors. Our domestic and international training staff includes several Level III thermographers certified by ASNT and BINDT with over 100 years combined infrared thermography applications experience. The Level II infrared training courses are taught by certified instructors with extensive experience in a wide variety of infrared thermography and thermal imaging applications.
Course Development Standards
The learning objectives, testing, and certification policies are based on ASNT CP-105, ANST SNT-TC-1A, ISO 18436-7, and USEPA guidelines.
- 24 hours (24 ITC certification renewal credits).

Trainings

Please note that on demand courses may not be available for some camera models. If a course is not offered for your camera type, please refer to your user's manual. All manuals and datasheets for FLIR cameras can be found at http://support.flir.com. For other vendors please visit the vendor’s website.
What do you need?
- Students will be required to complete various labs & exercises throughout the duration of the course, please bring your FLIR IR Optical Gas Imaging Camera to class.
- If you do not have access to a camera, you can rent one through Inframatrix Sdn Bhd.
- If you are attending the course with a colleague or friend you may share a camera, however we recommend no more than three students per camera.
- The laptop/tablet will need to be connected to the internet (via Wifi) throughout the course of the training.
- Course materials will only be available digitally.
- Examinations will be administered electronically.
